Well so did designer Zoe Paul, when in 2010 she decided to move from Melbourne with husband Jimi and call Bali home. The couple had made a trip there 3 years earlier for a holiday and after having some leather jackets tailor made, Zoe decided that the workmanship was second to none and that she had made a real find.
When she returned home, Paul received so many compliments, that each time she returned to Bali she took with her numerous orders for her friends- which turned into friends of friends- and so eventually she bought a one way ticket to Bali to start her own label- Mister Zimi (a combination of the couple’s names).
What has resulted is the unexpected mix of leathers and gorgeous silks which are made to order in variations of swimmers, jackets, shoes and accessories. You can make an order online and if you are after something extra special (i.e. in a different colour or pattern), Paul will do her very best to accommodate. My pick? The Willow Jacket- an unstructured leather jacket available in black, blue, brown and cream which is perfect for the rapidly approaching cooler months.
