Designer Level Opening at Westfield Sydney

A couple of nights ago I attended the opening of the Designer level at Westfield Sydney, to see what was new, what deals were to be had and mostly- to go shopping to celebrate my blog hitting 100 views (although God knows I don’t need an excuse).
There were one night only offers, including 25% off all full priced stock at Mimco, 20% off and free gift with shoe purchase at Peep Toe, at Hussy and Ginger and Smart you could meet the designers and Paul & Joe had flown in their Spring Summer ‘11 collection from Paris for the occasion.  On top of this, One Teaspoon had designer Jamie Blakey in store to customise your jeans into shorts and opposite, Ksubi’s pop-up denim workshop patched, sewed, trimmed and pulled jeans on the spot to give them an update.  As if more entertainment was needed, DJ Mikey Nolan was in attendance, spinning some tunes to get shoppers in the mood.
The best part of the night were the loyal fashionista’s and fashionisto’s (male version of the former) who flocked to the event by the dozens to support Australian designers.  These people are my inspiration and give me the confidence to try new styles, colours or even shapes of clothing that I normally wouldn’t.  Some of my favourites finds from the night are as follows;
Mimco- Dandy Bow Cloche $119
This hat will be one of my Winter essentials- not only will it keep my head warm, but it will cover up bad hair days while still looking chic. If you don’t want to pay this much for a hat, there are many, many more options at Sportsgirl, Myer and Country Road.  If variety is what you crave, head to Strand Hatters at the Strand Arcade Sydney, where you will find any and every hat that your heart desires.
These scarves are oh-so-perfect for Winter.  The four prints are great for adding a pop of colour to any dreary outfit, and made from 50% wool and 50% silk, so they are sure to keep you warm.  Alternatively, you can tie it to your handbag, fashion it into a headscarf, or as the perky sales assistant informed me- wrap it around yourself to make a top.  Available from Peep Toe online and in store for $49.

Ginger and Smart.  This store was just a pleasure to walk into, the staff were just the right amount of attentive, and this was probably due to the fact that the clothes speak for themselves.  As you walk past, flashes of pink and red punctuate a sea of blacks, greys and neutrals.  If I could afford these dresses they would be mine in a heartbeat, but until then I sure can admire them!

Splendour Short Draped Dress- $795

Heartbeat Draped Dress- $795

Another designer which took me by surprise was Hussy.  The printed fabrics were ah-mazing, and by far my FAVOURITE piece in the store was the Zephyr Coat.  With a zip that goes all the way around the middle, this wool coat can be transformed into a cropped jacket- ta-dah! Two jackets for the price of one.
But wait... it gets better- if you remove the tag from the inside of the jacket, it reveals a printed material with not a stitch in sight- you can wear it inside out.  FOUR jackets in one!  This jacket is on my hit list- available in black and cream for $429.
Also, to keep my 6 followers in the know, here’s a little secret- Zara is set to open on April 20th, so prepare yourselves (and your wallets)!
Yours Fashionably,
Nat xo
